World Hepatitis Awareness Day: Current Trends in Treatment
Douglas Dieterich, MD, discusses how the behavior that causes hepatitis C has evolved from the 1960s until today. Today, treatment is highly effective and he describes the course of treatment, as well as efforts to find a vaccine. Dr. Dieterich also describes the differences between hepatitis A, B, and C—and recommends that everyone get tested, unless they were vaccinated as a child. He also summarizes his ongoing research into liver diseases, including treatment to cure hepatitis B as well as prevent, diagnose, and treat liver cancer.
