In this report we show how a cellular mechanism prevents some patients with Crohn’s disease from responding to a widely used treatment, and how a popular anticonvulsant drug may be effective in treating depression. Mount Sinai’s leading microbiologists have created an effective new COVID-19 vaccine for low and middle-income countries that can be developed in the same facilities that produce influenza vaccines. And our Institute for Genomic Health is translating each patient’s genomic information into more effective treatments. Those three billion DNA letters strung together along our chromosomes may serve as a powerful and highly detailed set of medical records.
