Mount Sinai Study Finds Eating Gradually Increasing Doses of Store-Bought Peanut Butter Enables Children With Mild Peanut Allergy to Safely Consume Peanuts

title

Children with a high-threshold peanut allergy who ate gradually increasing doses of store-bought peanut butter, under the guidance of an allergist, achieved significantly higher and long-lasting rates of desensitization compared to those who avoided peanuts, according to a new study led by researchers at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.

Results of the trial, sponsored and funded by the National Institutes of Health’s National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, appeared in the Monday, February 10 issue of NEJM Evidence.
