Message From Valentin Fuster, MD, PhD, Director of Mount Sinai Heart
In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic challenged all of us as never before. Mount Sinai Heart rose to this challenge by caring for the sickest patients, broadening the understanding of the virus, and developing life-saving protocols—including anticoagulant treatments for patients hospitalized with COVID-19.
Our physicians and scientists accomplished this while continuing to advance our core mission in cardiovascular research and compassionate patient care. This year, The Mount Sinai Hospital was ranked among the top 6 in the nation for cardiology and heart surgery, according to U.S. News & World Report. And we were No. 5 in the Newsweek ranking of the best cardiology centers in the world.
