Researchers at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai have received up to $11.8 million from the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H) to identify and block the cellular entry points viruses exploit to infect, replicate, and spread.
Through the DOORs (Closing the Doors to All Pathogens Through Integrated Digital Experiments) project, investigators will map and compare the molecular “doors” used by viruses that infect humans against those that do not. The goal is to pinpoint host pathways essential for viral transmission and pathogenesis - laying the groundwork for broad-spectrum antiviral strategies that could prevent future outbreaks.
